RECLAIM THE NIGHT - MOREE 2008

This is an event to help empower women to stand up against violence towards women and children.

We started at the town hall in Moree and marched through the streets to Taylor Oval where we were welcomed to country and listened to guest speakers. I had also been asked to provide the entertainment, So that's what I did and even had one of my vocal students perform a couple of songs as well.

Pam Greer, Kevin Humphries MLA and Superintendent Starling were just a few of the speakers.

So often women put up with terrible circumstances because they are afraid of what will happen if they left an abusive situation.
As a woman I believe we should love and honor each other by encouraging each Woman, Sister, Daughter, Mother and Friend to believe and love herself and to show love and respect to the men in their lives as well - that way we are all edified.

Lets stop the cycle of violence.

Who knows maybe from this Rally someone might have the courage to stand up and say No to violence.

Catherine Britt and Adam Harvey Concert

Wow - This has been such a busy week but it feels all worth it when I get to hang out with great people like Catherine Britt and Adam Harvey, my good friend Barbara Rowe and some of Now Fm's listeners.

That is exactly what happened at the Crossing Theatre on the weekend. Paul Fisher and his friend Kathleen were the winners of a Now FM double pass to the Catherine Britt and Adam Harvey concert and as a special treat I was able to organise a visit backstage with the artists and the band.

Take a look at the photos.

I have to say I love my job. Sometimes I have to pinch myself to remind me it is a job. LOL.

Anyway we had a great night - The music was awesome - Catherine sang amazingly as usual and Adam had us all rolling with laughter.

I wonder what this week will hold.

Catch up with you again soon,

2008 Charity Bike Ride - Mungindi to Cllarenebri

I had so much fun.... My team 'Shades of Green' all rode really well. With some late changes to the team due to illness our driver wasn't able to make it so Gordon and I had to share the driving. Frankie our youngest rider put in about 15km Gordon and I did about 50km each and Andrew kicked some serious butt riding the entire 100km. We stopped for lunch and a rest at Burren Burren for about 1/2 an hour and then set off again.

Check out the photos.

The aftermath- I thought my legs would be very sore but it turns out only my calves are feeling a bit wobbly today, my butt is killing me but I guess that's to be expected. What I didn't expect is that my armpits would be aching. I KNOW?? - how the heck do armpits ache but mine do. Weird right!
Anyway I think i'll be able to make it up the stairs at work tomorrow, I might even go for another ride somewhere just to keep the momentum going.
I got to meet so many wonderful people and help raise some money for Charity and to top it all off I also got to have a little jam on stage and sing a few of my songs - What an awesome day.
Last but not least I really want to say a big Thankyou to all the people that kept us fed and watered on the trip and to an absolute legend Kelly Smith who survived cancer and now shares his time with others to help them see the positives in a bad situation.
I'm off to rest my armpits, have a happy recovery everyone.
See you later,
Victoria

Wow - What a week ...Tomorrow will top things off when I ride a bicycle built for two all the way to Collarenebri from Mungindi with my Team "SHADES OF GREEN" I have no idea why we have called ourselves that but it seems to fit. Gary from Major Metals has been working on the bike and has given it a lovely John Deere Green coat of Paint. Job Job will be so proud.

The charity bike ride starts early Saturday morning and we are all supposed to arrive in Colly sometime that afternoon for the after party. I'm thinking it might be pretty late by the time I complete the 100km ride. LOL.

Check out the website www.collarenebricharitybikeride.websyte.com.au

See you on the ride
